Ghana among other nations closed their borders to prevent the spread of the deadly virus which broke out late 2019. In a twitter update by Ghana’s information minister, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Ghana has extended the border closure for extra 2 weeks.
His Statement below;
‘Hi Folks, President @NAkufoAddo has by a new executive instrument, EI 66, extended the closure of Ghana’s borders by another two weeks effective midnight tomorrow April 5.
This is to ensure that the risk of importation of covid-19 cases will remain curtailed while we focus on the enhanced tracing and testing program currently underway.
Mr President believes that these tough decisions are necessary to protect the lives of Ghanaians despite the inconvenience it causes to many.
We continue to thank essential service providers who are at the frontlines of this covid-19 response program. We also thank the people of Ghana for their cooperation thus far. #ThisTooShallPass
@NAkufoAddo has just wrapped up mtgs with the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences as well as another with political parties to examine Ghana’s response to covid-19.
We are doing well with consensus in winning this war. Let us continue to work towards deepening education even to the lowest levels of our society.’
